Here's a cool fact about the gold medals given out to the winners at the 2018 Winter Olympics: If they were actually made of solid gold, each medal would have a value of nearly $27,000! However, the medals only contain 6 grams of pure gold. The rest of the 586 gram medal is comprised of 99.9% silver. The medals have not been made of pure gold since the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden.
